Ken Stephens is the managing principal of Retail Property Advisors (RPA), where he oversees client services, business development, and daily operations of our offices in Atlanta, Baltimore, Pasadena (CA), Sarasota, and Tampa. He is also closely involved in many new store projects, leasehold restructurings, and surplus property transactions in multiple states and Puerto Rico. Ken has provided real estate advisory services to retailers such as The Home Depot, Kohl’s, BJ’s Wholesale Club, PGA TOUR Superstores, Darden and others. During his career, he has been involved with the acquisition, development, and redevelopment of approximately 60 million square feet of retail/commercial space.
Ken previously served as the managing principal at Corporate Property Dispositions, a sister company which RPA acquired in 2014 and is now incorporated into the RPA brand. Prior to founding Retail Property Advisors, in 2011, Ken was a partner at Capstone Group, a Tampa-based real estate company, where he specialized in retail anchor tenant representation, and the acquisition and development of retail properties. Prior to joining Capstone Group, Ken worked for ten years in the real estate department at The Home Depot. He served as a corporate officer overseeing all store development activities in the Western, Northwest, Southwest and Canadian divisions. Prior to that position, Ken was Director of Real Estate for the Western Division and Real Estate Manager for Florida. During his tenure with Home Depot, he was involved in the development of more than 475 Home Depot stores and the disposition of approximately 100 surplus properties in multiple western states and Florida.
Before joining Home Depot, Ken spent 12 years as a commercial retail real estate sales and leasing specialist in the Tampa office of CBRE.
Education
Ken graduated from Auburn University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing.
Memberships and Associations
He serves on the advisory council for the Masters in Real Estate Development program at Auburn University and the Facilities and Real Estate Committee of Jesuit High School in Tampa. Ken is also a member of the ICSC. A long-time resident of Tampa, he is a licensed real estate broker in Florida and Alabama.
